Coldsnap 2022 Press Release

December 6, 2021

The board and staff of Prince George Folkfest Society are extremely pleased to announce that, after months of  careful planning and constant review of the ever-changing Provincial Health Orders, and following the tremendous  success of Coldsnap 2021, we are developing Coldsnap 2022 into an exciting, safe and comfortable live music  festival! The 15th annual Coldsnap –the prince george winter music festival will happen from January 28 to February  5. During the Coldsnap week, we will present amazing live music in front of a reduced capacity audience at our  reasonable ticket fee, and will also livestream each show for a nominal fee. All evening shows and our fabulously  popular Coldsnap for Kids will be presented at the newly-refurbished Prince George Playhouse.

The lineup of exceptional performers will be announced as they are confirmed but we can let out a few teasers!  Our Coldsnap Kickoff on Friday January 28 will feature the band Early Spirit who will lead you through the musical  mosaic of their own unique West Coast Rockin’ Folkin’ Rollin’ Jazzin’ Celtic Swing-Grass! Our Unforgettable Finale  on Saturday February 5 will see the fabulous BoomBooms return to the Prince George stage with “some of the  tightest, smoothest, sexiest soul and funk” you will ever hear. In between, we will feature the likes of blues master  Murray Porter, folk rockin’ sounds from Sarah Smith, gypsy jazz from The Lost Fingers and the extraordinary musicianship of Prince George’s own Genevieve Jaide and Karl Wyssen, as well as many others.

We will also present our famous daytime outreach workshop series during the week, although we will be hosting  these in just one venue to a limited capacity audience. We will also livestream these musician-focused workshops  which will be no charge to the in-person participants or to online viewers.

The safety of our audience, artists, volunteers and staff is paramount so please know that we need to stay flexible  in our presentation and plans, but we are very excited and grateful to be planning for Coldsnap 2022 with all the  support we have received from our funders, sponsors, members and volunteers. The performers are all very excited  to have the opportunity to play here!

We are also very grateful that we live, work and play on the unceded, ancestral territory of the Lheidli T’enneh First  Nation. We thank them for their stewardship of this beautiful land. We salute, cheer, celebrate and give many  thanks and virtual hugs to all our first responders, medical personnel and all other essential workers that continue  to work so hard towards the safety of everyone in the community.

Stay tuned to the Coldsnap website ( and our social media channels for details on the  artist lineup, schedule, venues, safety protocols and when and how to buy tickets which will be released very soon!
