COLDSNAP 2022 IS POSTPONED

Jan 10, 2022 - Coldsnap 2022 Press Release

The board and staff of Prince George Folkfest Society have been carefully monitoring the existing COVID-19 wave across the country and the world. The safety of our audience, artists, volunteers and staff remains paramount and we have decided to postpone the festival for several weeks. Although capacity restrictions have not changed for in-person events (as the date of this notice), travel is  a significant cause of the spread of this variant and many of the 40 or so artists slated to play at Coldsnap 2022 are scheduled to fly in. This is different both from Coldsnap 2021, where all artists were from BC and travelling artists drove to play in Prince George at the virtual festival, and for other events in Prince George that continue to be presented. 

We have not yet set the new dates for Coldsnap 2022 as we are presently contacting all the artists to check availability, and also the availability of the venues and production crew.  We plan to keep the artists and the format as close to the original format as possible, but there will likely be some changes to our original schedule. We plan to keep the livestream portion of the format, as well as the daytime workshops, but the heart of the festival has been and will continue to be the presentation of live music so the focus will be on when we can get the artists here. All the performers too are very excited to play in front of a live audience, regardless of the size! 

To those patrons that have already bought tickets…THANK YOU! Your support fills us with the desire to do everything we can to present these amazing musicians with their awe-inspiring music. We hope you will keep your tickets to shows that feature the same artists, although the dates will be different – all tickets will be honoured for shows on the new dates. We will also provide a refund to those that request it. We are suspending ticket sales until we release the new dates, and our box office manager will contact all existing ticket holders with ticket options.
