Coldsnap takes home ‘Festival of the Year’ at 2024 BC Touring Council Awards
The board and staff of Prince George Folkfest Society are thrilled to share the news that Coldsnap – the prince George winter music festival, was awarded “Best Festival” at the BC Touring Council Awards Ceremony on Saturday, April 13th as part of the Pacific Contact conference in Kelowna. The BC Touring Council has served presenters and touring professionals since 1976 and has grown into a vibrant network organization that provides a variety of programs including their flagship showcase and booking conference, Pacific Contact.
The 17th annual Coldsnap – the prince george winter music festival took place from February 2nd to 10th, 2024. Each day included free-to-attend daytime events and ticketed evening performances – including two late night shows!
Other nominees in this category were the Nelson International Mural Festival (Nelson), the Rotary Centre for the Arts’ Indigenous Resilience Festival (Kelowna) and Roots and Blues Festival (Salmon Arm).
Prince George Folkfest Society’s Executive Director, Sue Judge, was present at the ceremony to accept the award.
We would like to extend a warm congratulations to all of the other winners and nominees as well as a major thank you to everyone – sponsors, funders, volunteers, staff, contractors, audience members and artists – who make our event possible. This is a win for us all!
We are also honoured to announce that we have been nominated in the Small Festival category of the Canadian Live Music Industry Awards (CLMIA). Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in Toronto in June.
We are very grateful that we are hosted on the unceded, ancestral lands of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation. We thank them for their ongoing stewardship of this beautiful land.
