COLDSNAP 2024 SET FOR THIS COMING FEBRUARY 2 TO 10!

November 13, 2023 - Prince George, BC

The board and staff of Prince George Folkfest Society are thrilled to announce the lineup for Coldsnap 2024. The 17th annual Coldsnap – the prince george winter music festival will take place from February 2nd to 10th, 2024. Every evening during Coldsnap week, we will present amazing live music in a variety of venues across Prince George.

The festival schedule and lineup of exceptional performers is now available on our website and will be updated as we finalize all the details. Our opening night gets a running start with a kickoff dance party at the Prince George Civic Centre! “Coldsnap Cabaret” will feature the next generation of Celtic sound from Inn Echo and the multi-award-winning, toe-tapping fiddling styles of Shane Cook & The Woodchippers. On Sunday afternoon, the popular Coldsnap for Kids returns with “Will’s Jams”. Will Stroet presents high-energy rock-blues music in English and French, full of whimsy, wordplay and sing-along choruses, inspiring kids to be active, creative, caring and community-minded. On Friday, February 9, “Dance Dance Dance” at Knox Performance Centre will feature a night of music that makes you want to move. Party Jacket is one part sequins, one part satin leopard print and three parts well-worn denim that is mixed well and goes down easy. The night will also feature Empanadas Ilegales, who delight with the Psychedelic Cumbia & Salsa sound, transporting all to a world of contagious and groovy vibes. The final night of the festival will be a “Cultural Confluence”! Oktopus is primarily devoted to klezmer and offers elements of the classical Quebecois repertoire with some jazz and Balkan accents. They will be joined by Abel Maxwell who integrates inspirational lyrics with a carpet of Afrobeats. The rest of the fest will feature artists from across Canada and around the world with the likes of Mouraine, Sinzere, Big Fancy, Kacy & Clayton, Saltwater Hank, Ndidi O, Kitty & the Rooster, Crones, No Big D, Kimberley MacGregor, Holidays in Canada, Wyatt C. Louis, Abigail Lapell and more! Please note that artists and venues are subject to change.

We are also excited to bring back our free-to-attend, daytime IceJam and Workshop series throughout the week that make Coldsnap one of the most anticipated cultural events of the year.

We are very grateful that we are hosted on the unceded, ancestral lands of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation. We thank them for their ongoing stewardship of this beautiful land.

Stay tuned to the Coldsnap website (www.coldsnapfestival.com) and our social media channels (@coldsnapfest) for details on the artist lineup, schedule, and venues.

Tickets for all of the Coldsnap 2024 shows will be available for purchase starting at 3:00 pm on Monday, November 13th on our website.
