Coldsnap Presents Dak’et, Shun Inli (Music in the Fall) 2023 with Mattmac, ZENON+ & Simbiyez Wilson!

August 25, 2023

CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT!

KNOX PERFORMANCE CENTRE OCTOBER 21, 2023

Prince George Folkfest Society board and staff are excited to announce our fall event, Dak’et, Shun Inli 2023! Dak’et, Shun Inli is “Music in the Fall” in the Dakelh language and, with support from Lheidli T’enneh First Nation, we are celebrating arts on Lheidli T’enneh Territory with fantastic live music and workshops.

Our evening concert on October 21st features emerging artists Mattmac, ZENON+, and Simbiyez Wilson. This eclectic evening of music will weave together elements of pop, hip-hop and R&B. These artists all push the boundaries of genre to create music that is new and exciting - this evening of music cannot be missed!

The concert takes place at the newly opened Knox Performance Centre, 1448 5th Avenue. Doors open at 7:00 PM, with the show at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $25 (plus taxes and fees) and are available online starting today! We will also present informative workshops on October 22, details will be released very soon. Learn more at www.coldsnapfestival.com.

Opening the evening show will be Northern BC's very own Wet’suwet’en singer-songwriter Simbiyez Wilson! Simbiyez has had a busy summer on the Northern BC festival circuit as a trio and brings amazing energy to the stage!

ZENON+ is a bi-racial singer/songwriter based in Calgary, Alberta. With soulful R&B vibes and soaring vocals, their debut album "GENRE Z" earned them a 2023 Western Canadian Music Awards "R&B Artist of the Year" nomination.

We are also super proud to bring Mattmac from Garden Hill First Nation in Northern Manitoba to Prince George! Mattmac was born blind and immersed in a world of music. After his chart-topping, award-winning debut album "20/20", his second album "Blurred Visions" was released in July 2022 and is all about navigating life's challenges, facing social pressure, and even the ups and downs of love! In August 2023, Mattmac was chosen as the grand prize winner of CBC Music’s Searchlight contest, meaning this young artist is one to watch!

Follow on Facebook and Instagram for more details and updates, tickets for the evening concert are available now.

This event is also a warm up to Coldsnap – the prince george winter music festival. Coldsnap 2024 will be held February 2 to 10, and (at least some) details will be released at Dak’et, Shun Inli!

Prince George Folkfest Society appreciates the support and collaboration offered by Lheidli T’enneh First Nation. We are very grateful that we live, work and play on the unceded, ancestral territory of the LTFN, and we thank them for their stewardship of this beautiful land.

Venue and artists subject to change.
